Brian is currently involved in developing a range of functional and celebratory mid-temperature slip decorated stoneware that is informed by the traditional decorated lead glazed wares of England, Europe and Afghanistan. “It has been my aim, with the aid of a research bursary from the Henry Hammond Trust and tireless mentoring from Philip Wood, to try and resolve the issues of soluble toxicity and durability, associated with softer lead glazes, whilst trying to maintain the playful vigour that is synonymous with earthenware and often subdued at higher temperatures.
